Volunteering to me 

Volunteerism in the books : The use or involvement of volunteer labor, especially in community service.  

Volunteerism to me is being able to spend time helping out the community and connect. To have an opportunity of making it a better place. Being able to volunteer gives you the benefits of making new friends, expand your network, and boost your social skills. Not only does give you connections but it gives you a sense of purpose. :)
